Calculation of Lunar Months for the Indian Calendar
There are two calculations for lunar months in India. The end of the lunar month can be either on the Amavasya tithi (Amanta tradition) or on the Purnima Tithi (Purnimanta tradition). The new month will begin on Shukla Pratipada or Krishna Pratipada.
Depending on the system you use, the festival may fall in different months. Komilla is using the new month to begin on Shukla Pratipada, the first lunar day after Amavasya Tithi.
